Training for Success (TfS) for school leavers aged 16-18 years old is designed to provide you with the skills, confidence and knowledge within a supported learning environment that will enable you to find work.

Depending on your needs you may begin with skills for life or work before progressing to Programme Led Apprenticeships (PLA).

1. Skills for Life

This aspect of the course provides learning support for your personal and development needs.

2. Skills for Work

At this stage of the course we will help you to gain the knowledge and skills to gain employment while achieving a Vocationally Recognised Qualification (VRQ), at Level 1. When you have completed this you may progress to pre-apprenticeship, programme led apprenticeship or ApprenticeshipNI.

3. Programme Led Apprenticeships

This level is for participants who are unemployed and have been identified as being capable of achieving a VRQ at Level 2 to prepare you for future employment.

Some of the areas we provide training in are:

·     Administration

·     Child Care

·     Construction

·     Distribution & Warehousing

·     Retail

·     Sports & Recreation

Some examples of the varied range of training include:

·     Job search and employability

·     Improving confidence and self-esteem

·     Gaining an industry related qualification

·     Standard work related training i.e. First Aid, computers and Health & Safety

·     Industry related work experience and job sampling

All of the training above provides you with knowledge so that you can make an informed choice about your future!

On the TfS programme you will receive an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) of £40 per week which will not affect any family benefits. Other allowances may be payable for travel, lodging and childcare, depending on your individual circumstances.
