The Steps For Work programme has been developed to assist persons who are unemployed, to support them with relevant skills, personal development and training as well as providing work experience in order to help them return to work or find employment for the first time.
As an employer you will provide work experience and on-the-job training within your industry/business area. In return you will be investing in your business and workforce as well as helping to ensure the Northern Ireland economy has a skilled and motivated workforce of the future.
If you employ a participant from this programme you may be eligible to receive an employer subsidy depending on the eligibility of the client that you recruit from the Steps to Work programme this includes funding from £40 to £75 depending on each individual client.
The participant base within Steps to Work includes;
- Long term unemployed claiming Job seekers allowance,
- People on benefits such as Incapacity Benefit and Income Support and
- Voluntary people who claim no benefits and want to get back into the employment market.
There are many different options for the participant to choose but the main ones are as follows:
- 13 week Back to Work
- 26 week Essential skills/Qualification
- 52 week Qualification
The client earns no wages but receives a top-up on their benefits each week that they take part in an option. There are no charges to the employer, but a copy of Insurances will be required along with some simple sign up paperwork which is completed by People 1st / Dairy Farm Training. Time sheets are completed for audit purposes.
