Course Description
This course is for a learner looking to work within the bricklaying industry. It aims to develop your skills and craft to work at recognized industry levels.
Mandatory Units include (not all listed)
Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
Erecting Masonry Structures In The Workplace
Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in The Workplace
Optional units – to be arranged, an example of these are listed below, other units are available:
Installing drainage in the workplace
Placing and compacting concrete in the workplace
Erecting Masonry Cladding in the Workplace
Duration
12 - 24 months depending on course and individual circumstances
Assessment
Oral and written unit assessments through student portfolio with practical vocational observation by a qualified Assessor; Witness Testimonies and Professional Discussion.
Entry Requirements
Aged 16 – 17 years old Or Young person with a disability and be under 22 years old, Or Young person who qualifies under the Children (Leaving Care) Act (NI) (2002) and who is under 24 years old.
18 – 24 years old working 21 hrs or above in a relevant job role
All aged groups, must be employed or working voluntary in a relevant job role
Progression Routes
Students can progress to higher education or level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying.
