City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Playwork; Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure & Learning; and, Essential Skills Communication and Application of Number at Level 2. 

Eligibility

 

Candidates must be:

  • In an afterschool setting working with the over fives. (Apprentices minimum 21 hours p/w)
  • In a position to involve children in planning, negotiate with children regarding the planning, and in carrying out the plan. 
  • In a position to commit to the time required, (approx. 72 hours), to complete research and submit assignments in a timely manner. 

Delivery Model

Targeted Completion Time: Most learners complete the level 3 qualification in a period of 12 months (where there is full attendance timely submission of assignments). 

Work-based Assessments areplanned in advanced and reviewed regularly with the candidate. 

Directed Training time (classroom sessions)

84 hours

This is in the format of 28 x 3-hour sessions which run every other week. 

Assessor observations x 2

& Product evidence

 2 x site observations, approx. month 4 and month 7

Your assessor will visit you twice in the workplace to observe you working and assess your product evidence. 

 

Work-based assignments/

projects x 10

 Approx. 1 assignment per month to be uploaded by candidate to their e-portfolio. 

N.B. A blank assignment timetable is provided for completion in class to assist with planning.    

Witness Testimony

 Towards the end of the qualification the assessor will need to speak with the candidate’s mentor to complete a recorded witness testimony as part of evidence collection. 

Records of Evidence/Diaries

 Ongoing throughout the course

Professional Discussions (PD) approx. 4/5. 

PDs are used to gather small elements of evidence missing from written work or observations.   

Qualification Structure

To achieve the Level 3 Diploma, candidates must achieve 65 credits in total:

  • 46 from the mandatory units 309-321
  • A minimum of 19 from the optional units 322-327, 401 and 501. 

X will work with the candidate and employer to ensure the most appropriate optional units are selected for the specific setting.
