Are your GCSE results coming in soon and maybe you might not return to do A-levels...we want to help you with your next step.

For over 25 years, People 1st have been training school leavers, on the main government youth training programme, Skills for Life and Work. This programme provides 16- and 17-year-olds with an NVQ qualification and training in a vocational area of their choice. With over 15 different subject areas to study,  there is something for everyone, from Business to IT, Hair to Beauty, Catering to Retail, Joinery to Plumbing and much more. If you need support with essential skills of English, Maths and ICT, if you didn’t pass your GCSE’s, we can also help with that! You will really enjoy training with us- we aren't a big further education campus,  we are a small award-winning training provider that gives our students a lot of one-to-one support and mentoring. All our classes are smaller, friendly groups, taught by kind and supportive tutors, and lots of fun days out with the team, so you will really settle in fast!

We know too well that the jump from school to the workplace can be a tough move and many are nervous about this, but we are here to bridge that gap and help you develop! Because of our smaller classes and the way we operate, students transition very well to People 1st and gain the skills to adapt - you meet new friends, learn so many new things, gain confidence and really just enjoy learning in a structured but relaxed environment. It is not only about learning a new vocation with us, it's about growing as a person and enjoying your time spent here.

We have invested a lot over the last few years to create amazing facilities in-house for our students- we offer a variety learning environments- fully operational hair salons, barber salons, beauty academy, catering kitchen and construction academy for the more practical and hands on side of the course. Students spend a minimum of one day a week learning the practical skills of their chosen area, a few days are spent on the theory side as well as self-development, careers advice and guidance and other amazing life skills that will help you in the future greatly. Once you are ready to progress, you can also avail of time spent each week in a work placement too!! Many of our students tell us that they love their work placements, as they learn so much and it's great for their CV.
